One of the golden rules in trading Forex is not to open or close a position during emotional moments, regardless if positive or negative emotion, since the mind must be completely calm as you are trading.

But what if the cause of your negative emotion is not within your control, and it occurs frequently?

What if this negative emotion is caused by your loved ones?

How would you deal it?

Law of attraction dictates that we attract what we predominantly think. If you are a positive person, you attract positive things to your life. Similarly, if you constantly dwell on negative things in life, you attract negative things.

But how can you think positively when the people around you are very negative?  Especially when your positive energy is sucked away by their negativity.

The following are what I practice to deal with negative people or situations:

List 10 Things I’m Can Be Grateful of Because of the Negative Situation

In the book, The Magic by Rhonda Byrne, she discussed that in order to receive abundance, we must be grateful. It is impossible to be negative when you are grateful.

How should you handle a negative situation?

Rhonda recommends looking for something you can be grateful for in the negative situation.

For example, if your mom constantly complains and nags on you, instead of getting angry or frustrated, interpret this negativity as her way of showing her love and concern to you. List 10 things you are grateful for about your mom. Over time, you’ll see gradual improvement in your relationship with her.

Listen to Positive Affirmations Daily

Our subconscious mind works interestingly. With constant repetition of positive statements, your subconscious mind gradually accepts these as true. (Same goes with negative statements.) Positive statements are your desired situations or goals that are described in positive words and in present tense.

Read Self-help Books

Books give you a wider view of the world. Often written by those who have encountered a similar situation as you are in now and had overcome it, books can serve as your guide in finding the answering to your problems.

My personal favorite self-help book is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

We are greatly influenced by our environment. This is why it is important to surround yourself with individuals who you aspire to be.

Walk Away From the Negative Person

Personally, I do not recommend this unless necessary. Walking away from a negative situation may sometimes be interpreted as hiding or a sign of weakness. But this is not always the case.

After you have done the first 4 points above, and you are still in the negative situation. Then, evaluate how important the person’s role in your life. If your relationship is bringing too much negativity that it is bringing you down, walk away from him or her. (In case, it’s your close family member, try repeating No. 1 :)).
